If you have strong plumbing and domestic heating expertise and want to use your knowledge to help shape qualifications and assessments across the sector, this could be a great opportunity. As Product Specialist (Plumbing), you’ll combine your technical experience with an understanding of education and skills to develop products that reflect industry practice, occupational competence and the changing needs of employers and learners.
About the role
As Product Specialist, you will develop and manage EAL products across plumbing and domestic heating, ensuring they are high quality, commercially valuable and maintained throughout their lifecycle. You’ll lead the technical development and launch of new products while continually reviewing and improving the existing portfolio.
Drawing on your sector expertise, you’ll translate occupational standards, industry practice, statutory requirements and competence frameworks into relevant qualifications and assessment materials. You’ll maintain a strong understanding of the education and apprenticeship landscape, as well as changing technical and regulatory requirements, ensuring products remain current and compliant.
Building strong relationships will be central to the role. You’ll work with employers, colleges, training providers, manufacturers and industry bodies to understand sector needs, validate technical content and identify new opportunities. You’ll also work closely with colleagues across EAL to develop new product ideas and ensure products and services are delivered effectively.
About you
You’ll bring in depth and current technical knowledge of plumbing and domestic heating, supported by relevant sector experience and ongoing professional development. You’ll also have experience developing, reviewing or maintaining qualifications and assessments, ideally within an awarding organisation or regulated assessment environment.
You’ll have a strong understanding of the plumbing and domestic heating education and skills landscape, including qualifications, apprenticeships, occupational standards and vocational assessment. You’ll be confident using this knowledge to provide clear and accurate technical support to both internal and external customers.
You’ll be highly organised, with excellent communication skills and close attention to detail. You’ll be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working collaboratively with subject experts and colleagues, and using digital systems and tools to support your work. Time served experience as a Plumbing and Heating Engineer, particularly alongside teaching experience, would be beneficial.
