Are you interested in how policy is shaped and the impact it can have on skills, engineering and manufacturing? This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in policy and public affairs, working on real projects and developing your research, communication and organisational skills within a supportive professional environment.
About the role
As our Policy & Public Affairs Intern, you will support the Policy Team across a range of research, policy and stakeholder activities. You will monitor policy developments, consultations and parliamentary activity, carry out research and help prepare clear briefings, updates and presentations.
You will also support stakeholder engagement, helping to research key organisations and contacts and assisting with meetings, roundtables, webinars and workshops. Alongside this, you will help keep records and stakeholder information accurate and provide practical support to team meetings and projects.
Throughout the internship, you will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of the UK policy making process and build your knowledge of the wider skills, engineering and manufacturing landscape.
About you
You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to research, analyse and summarise information clearly and concisely. You will be organised, have good attention to detail and be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.
We are looking for someone with a positive and collaborative approach who is curious, adaptable and keen to learn. You will be comfortable managing tasks and deadlines with support from the team and take a logical, proactive approach when solving problems.
An interest or some experience in policy research, public affairs, politics or analysis would be beneficial, whether gained through studies, work experience, volunteering or personal interests. An interest in engineering, manufacturing, skills or technical education, along with an awareness of UK policy making, would also be an advantage.
