In this pivotal role, you’ll position Enginuity as the go-to authority on sector health and skills intelligence; empowering employers, policymakers, and industry leaders with the knowledge they need to make smart, data-driven decisions.
Leading a talented team, you’ll harness the power of AI, employer data, and emerging technologies to spot key trends and identify future challenges. Your insights will fuel timely, impactful reports that reach the right people at the right time, supporting our mission to become the leading source of skills and workforce intelligence in the sector. By embedding a culture of data-informed decision-making across Enginuity and the wider industry, you’ll help shape workforce strategies, anticipate skills needs, and drive sustainable growth and productivity across the UK’s vital engineering and manufacturing landscape.
What you’ll be doing
Data, Insights & Intelligence
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of sector intelligence strategy and projects, ensuring outputs are high-quality, timely, and strategically aligned.
- Oversee data collection and reporting, working with internal and exterenal stakeholders to identify needs and shape effective solutions.
- Translate complex data into accessible, actionable insights for internal and external audiences.
- Curate insights from primary and secondary sources, identifying key trends in engineering and manufacturing skills.
- Track developments in education, skills policy, technology, and the labour market to keep insights relevant.
- Collaborate with Research and Policy teams to deliver robust, priority-aligned research and policy positions.
- Support the Impact & Delivery Team to monitor the impact or Engunity Charitable Projects.
- Improve tools and methodologies to keep insights fresh and impactful.
- Champion the use of AI to enhance analysis, insight generation, and innovation in business intelligence.
- Present opportunities to commercialise data allowing Enginuity to make a wider impact.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Work with internal teams to ensure insights inform projects, policy positions, and support any funding bids.
- Engage with employers and industry bodies to align intelligence outputs with sector needs.
- Present findings to stakeholders and support data-led decision-making.
- Act as a knowledge hub, supporting colleagues in applying insights to their work.
- Identify opportunities to commercialise Enginuity’s data assets to benefit the sector.
Impact & Evaluation
- Embed intelligence into strategic and day-to-day decisions across the organisation.
- Help develop evaluation tools to measure impact and drive improvement.
- Promote a culture of evidence-based thinking throughout Enginuity.
Management Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Sector Intelligence team, modelling Enginuity’s values and behaviours.
- Coach and support team members to drive performance, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Embed a customer-first mindset and maintain your own continuous professional development.
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role with proven track record of leading remote teams to deliver targets consistently and to high quality standards
- Strong experience with data governance, data quality practices, privacy and regulatory compliance ideally within a health and social care context.
- Have a good working knowledge of Power BI to support the Sector Intelligence team
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience within the education, workforce development, or skills landscape, or direct experience within the engineering and manufacturing sector.
- Excellent written, verbal communication skills; ability to present to Senior teams with confidence
- Able to build and maintain positive effective relationships across all levels of the business
- Experience of working with or within the Engineering and Manufacturing or skills and education sector
Other skills which would be desirable however not needed to apply for the role
- Have demonstrable experience in a similar role and experience ideally in an educational, technical, industrial, or policy-driven environment.
- Have experience in leading and participating in research projects
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or related advanced degrees (MSc, PhD) are preferred however demonstrable learning and on the job training and experience in associated fields are equally relevant.

Remote/home based working at Enginuity
Your working hours will be 35 per week, working 9am until 5pm with a 1 hour lunch.
As a home-based employee you will fulfil your job responsibilities from home. Interactions with work and colleagues will be from a virtual environment. Depending on your role you will be required to either have some occasional travel or UK national travel. This travel will be required to allow you to fulfil different parts of your role and to meet colleagues on a quarterly basis. Other meetings that might require you to travel are events such as all colleague away days, training, and project work. Please review the advert to gain this insight to how much travel is expected. Also, ask at interview stage to confirm the frequency of travel and distance.
The company will provide you with the IT equipment required to carry out your role but it is a requirement that you provide all the necessary facilities for working from home; including broadband, home office, desk and chair.
